Soft Matter, a journal with an interdisciplinary audience focussing on the interface between physics, materials science, biology, chemical engineering, and chemistry, recently published an invited review on semiconductor nanomembranes by Lagally and coworkers [Soft Matter 6, 439 (2010)]. The visual impact of images of Si nanomembranes led the journal to choose one of them for the cover of Volume 6, issue 3. The paper was among the top 10 downloaded Soft Matter papers in February 2010
